Joining Light Academy Nairobi

Light Academy Nairobi admits learners into Junior School (Grade 7 and Grade 8) and Senior School (Grade 11) under Kenya’s Competency-Based Education, with day and boarding places for both boys and girls.

Every application starts with the learner’s most recent school report, followed by a written and oral assessment at the school.

Junior School

Joining Grade 7 or Grade 8

Admission is based on a review of the learner’s academic record, followed by a written and oral assessment at the school.

  1. Submit a recent report

Send the learner’s most recent school assessment report (report card) to the Admissions Office at info@lightacademy.ac.ke.

  2. Records review

The Admissions Team reviews the report and advises whether the learner can proceed to the admission assessment.

  3. Written & oral assessment

Eligible learners sit a written assessment and an oral assessment at the school.

  4. Admission decision

The outcome is based on the learner’s performance in the written and oral assessment.

Senior School

Joining Grade 11

Grade 11 follows the same review and assessment, with one extra condition: the learner’s current subject combination must be one that Light Academy Nairobi offers.

  1. Submit a recent report

Send the learner’s most recent school assessment report (report card) to the Admissions Office.

  2. Records & subject review

The Admissions Team checks the report and confirms that the learner’s Grade 10 pathway and subject combination are offered at the school (see the pathways below).

  3. Written & oral assessment

Eligible learners sit a written assessment and an oral assessment at the school.

  4. Admission decision

The outcome is based on the learner’s performance in the written and oral assessment.

Please note: A Grade 11 application can only proceed when the learner’s current subject combination matches one offered at Light Academy Nairobi. Please check the pathways below before applying.
