Primary School (Grades 1–6)
Lower & Upper Primary
Strong foundations, growing curiosity
Primary School under CBE runs for six years. Lower Primary (Grades 1–3) builds the foundations of reading, writing, numeracy and communication in English and Kiswahili.
Upper Primary (Grades 4–6) widens learning to science and technology, social studies, agriculture and the creative arts, with more projects, investigations and practical work.
At the end of Grade 6, learners sit the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA). It is not a pass-or-fail exam: together with school-based assessment, it shows each learner’s strengths as they move on to Junior School.
