L.A Nairobi – Stop Drug Abuse Seminar

On Saturday the 10thof July 2021 at 9.55 a.m. , the students of Light Academy, were called to the auditorium to attend a seminar on Drug abuse. Dr. Susan Gitau, who is an internationally renowned Addiction psychiatrist, was the keynote speaker of the seminar. During her presentation they were told about how substance abuse can affect an individual and society as a whole. She let them know that the act of narcotic abuse started from wherever the drugs are manufactured illegally, to the couriers that bring them to their location, to the local dealers and finally to the final consumer and she informed them that each and every one of these individuals is just as guilty as the manufacturers of the narcotics. She then proceeded to go over the components, effects and consequences of abusing such drugs. Before the event concluded the students were given the chance to ask Dr. Susan questions to which she responded to shortly after they were asked. The student’s responses to the answers to their questions that Dr. Susan gave show that they appreciated the fact that they got the chance to be equipped with the necessary knowledge to comprehend the consequences of substance abuse from an expert of such high caliber.
